A simple recipe to make your own tooth paste.
Ingredients
- 4-5 tablespoons coconout oil
- 1 tsp tumeric
- 2 teaspoons natron/baking soda (optional)
- 5-10 drops essential oils e.g. Peppermint, Orange, Clove, Thymian (optional)
Instructions
- Mix coconout oil (should have room temperature or more) with rest of the ingriedients.
- Fill into a small glass.
Coconut oil has natural antibacterial properties that help prevent tooth decay, fight cavity-causing bacteria and bad breath.
Natron acts as an abrasive, slightly brightens the teeth and thanks to its alkalinity it is able to create a good pH value in the mouth. Caries-causing acids can thus be neutralized.
Turmeric has an antibacterial effect, relieves swelling and pain, has a positive effect on the mouth and whitens the teeth.
Extra tipp: when the temperature rises, put the toothpaste in the fridge - coconut oil becomes liquid at 23-26 degrees and the baking soda powder will settle to the bottom more quickly. You can then mix it again, but it would just be a little more time-consuming.
